Victorian Tree Climbing Championship 2012

Another fine event by the VTIO crew: 52 climbers made it through in time to do the master’s challenge before dusk.  There were a few surprises: the rescue dummy for the master’s and women’s grade was set in a fairly hard-to-reach location, and the work climb involved redirecting your wp system back up and through a fork… plus for the first time at the VTCC we saw a climber using the rope wrench, and SRWP.

masters

into trees climber Joe Harris had an excellent day, winning the work climb, rescue and speed climb, and coming second in the footlock.  In addition, Joe won the event overall, adding the 2012 Victorian Tree Climbing Championship to his list of climbing achievements.  The women’s grade was won by Kiah Martin; the open by Zac Shearer and the student by Aidyn Heyes.  Full results have been posted on the VTIO website here.

Also worthy of note is that the top two masters climbers in both men’s and women’s grades were climbing with ART devices…
