Two of the climbers joining into trees on the big tree climbing and competition roadtrip later this year have confirmed dates.
Renowned French climber and arborist M. Jeremie Thomas (seen here in action on a previous visit, demonstrating a traditional French fishing technique) will be arriving in the country in time for the Tasmanian Tree Climbing Competition. He will be with the roadtrip through Adelaide, Perth and Darwin, and will be flying across to the Asia Pacific competition in Singapore.
Jeremie is the owner and arborist of mt arborist – the tree climbing company. He has travelled and worked for arboricultural companies around the world – including a stint with The Tree Works in Melbourne. He is well known to competition climbers throughout Australia and New Zealand, having secured top-twenty places in the national competitions of both countries over the last couple of years.
Once we reach Perth, the roadtrip will be joined by nine-times Australian tree climbing champion Ms Kiah Martin. Kiah was the 2003 women’s world champion, and has done things in trees that most of us only have nightmares about. Kiah will be working, climbing, competing and visiting trees right over the top end from Perth to Darwin and down the coast to be at the ITCC in Sydney in July.
Kiah considers herself to be an expert on packing – one of her many responsibilities is going to be finding a way to fit all of the chainsaws, rigging and climbing gear, cooking stuff and camping equipment into the ute…
