2011 VTCC Climbing Masterclass

On the 11 – 12 November the VTIO ran its 2011 Tree Climbing Championship and preliminary climbing workshop.  into trees’ Joe Harris was involved in  organising the workshop, along with world tree climbing champion Scott Forrest; it was a great success, with a full turnout of 55 attendees.  Among the participants was leading tree-climbing photographer Rob Fisher of Fisher Photo Industry, who took some great shots during the course of the day: 

 

 

 

 

The climbing competition on the next day was also a great success, with warm weather and a beautiful view out across the marina.  Congratulations to Kiah Martin and Gerard Reynolds for winning the 2011 VTCC masters’ challenge, and to all the volunteers, judges, participants and organisers for making the day run so smoothly.  You can download the full results by clicking on the image at the base of the post.  into trees’ Joe Harris won the preliminary round of the competition, and for the third year in a row came second in the Masters’ Challenge.

ATRAES SRT video

Part two of the ATRAES SRT instructional video series demonstrates the double-bag technique for isolating a union, and discusses some alternatives for SRT line tie-off.  The MicroFrog system is available from ATRAES; Angus McMahon from Sherbrooke Tree Services shot and produced the video.
